Arsenio Hall's Comedy Zone Show: 'Don't bring your kids!'

Arsenio Hall is back. This time he’s live on stage and uncensored!

Hall performs at the Comedy Zone on Friday and Saturday. The show is part of Hall’s national comedy club tour. Stand up has been therapeutic for Hall after his most recent talk show was unceremoniously canceled on CBS last summer.

After the cancellation, Hall became a recluse, but comedians George Lopez and Dave Chappelle wouldn’t let him fade away. They made him go to comedy clubs. He realized he missed being onstage.

“It’s almost like looking at a fine ex-girlfriend that you really miss, and you know you need back in your life to get you right,” he said. “That’s what stand up was for me.”

These days Hall is all about that ex-girlfriend. He said he hadn’t toured in 15 years, but he’s been playing comedy clubs since last summer. Along with his stand up gig, Hall most recently hosted the BET Awards. He’s also a frequent guest on Real Husbands of Hollywood.

Fans accustomed to Hall’s family-friendly television comedy maybe surprised by the Hall who appears onstage at the Comedy Club this weekend.

“I do an adult show. You see me in that box,” he said. “There’s a side of every live entertainer that you don’t see on TV. Fifteen minutes into the show, you see this is a man from Cleveland.”

Hall’s comedy spans the breadth of his career with a mix of opinion and funny stories about his interactions with a variety of celebrities.

“There are many times when you’re getting this unique point of view with somebody who’s been in it to win it for a long time,” he said. “You’re watching the encyclopedia of this unique n——’s life.”
