Hey bartender! Learn to make two signature cocktails (Video)

I'm not sure what's better, the cocktails or listening to Domhnall Minogue explain how to make two signature drinks at The Workman's Friend. It's the most popular drink at the new Irish pub on Central Ave.

The Workman's Friend Part II: Two gates and a lucky break (Video)

We return to Plaza-Midwood's The Workman's Friend as Corrina Devin explains the Irish accoutrements that make the new pub authentic to Dublin. We also learn how Kevin Devin found the best carpenter in Charlotte to create most of the woodwork inside the pub. His discovery may surprise you. This is the second in a three-part series on the new Irish pub that opened in Plaza-Midwood last month.

The Workman's Friend Aims To Be Authentic Irish Pub (Video)

The Irish crew unleashed a secret weapon on The Workman's Friend, the new Irish pub on Central Avenue. Kevin Devin's wife, Corrina Devin was the interior designer for the new pub that recently opened on Central Avenue. It's the latest addition to the locally owned Irish pubs by Devin, Tommy Timmins and Maynard Goble.

Corrina Devin hails from Dublin. She says the team created a pub reminiscent to pubs in her home country. She recently sat down with me to talk about the design flourishes that set The Workman's Friend apart from other pubs.

We'll be exploring different aspects of the Workman's Friend for the next few weeks from design to drinks.

The Workman's Friend Opens In Plaza-Midwood (Photo Gallery)

The Workman's Friend opened this week in Plaza-Midwood. It's the newest spot from what I affectionally call the Irish crew - Tommy Timmons, Kevin Devin and Maynard Goble - owners of Connolley's, Prohibition and Dandelion Market.

The Workman's Friend is more than typical Irish pub with corned beef and cabbage. Sherpard's Pie is on the menu, but so is lamb, salmon and a dish called "Not Your Mama's" Pork & Beans. The cocktail features craft cocktails such as the signature The Workman's Friend. I wanted to try the Pickle-Back Shot. It's a shot of Jameson's with a sidecar of pickle brine. Unfortunately, they'd sold out of the pickle brine by the time I arrived on Friday night. It's housemade and used to the pickled okra.

I cooled off on Saturday at Margarita Wars at the Rooftop 210's at the EpiCentre.
