Preview: Craft Beer Week, film festival and St. Patrick's Day parade

Friday

Last One - The Jazz Arts Initiative concludes its sixth season with a tribute to North Carolina native Nina Simone. The Saturday show features trumpeter Mark Rapp playing the music of Miles Davis. 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., Stage Door Theater, corner of 5th and College in Uptown Charlotte. $12, $15. Details.



She’s Hot - I’ve seen plenty of adult entertainers, but Angel Beau brings the heat with her fire-breathing show. She also rolls on a bed of machete blades. Scores Gentlemens Club & Steakhouse, 123 Executive Center Place. Mooresville $10.



Brewery Opening - Concord is getting its first full-scale brewery and taproom. Cabarrus Brewing Company opens its 5,000 square foot taproom featuring large TVs and occasional live music. 2 p.m. today, opens noon Saturday and Sunday, Cabarrus Brewing, 329 McGill Ave NW, Concord.



She’s A Poet - Self-described Artivist Chiara Richardson headlines the Power of SHE Poetry Slam. Richardson is a published poet, actress, artist, educator, and activist. 8 p.m., McGlohon Theater, 345 N. College St. $12. Details.

Drink For A Cause - The Pints for Prostates Charity Cornhole Tournament raises money to fight prostate caner. 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Unknown Brewing. 1327 South Mint St. $60 per team. Includes: Two T-shirts, four beers and a chance to win at trip to Oktoberfest in Germany. Unknown is also donating $.50 of every beer sold to P4P. Details.





Drink For  A Cause II - If you love orange juice mixed with sparkling wine then head to The 7th Annual Mimosa Party which benefits Time Out Youth. 8 a.m - 12 p.m., JB's On The Greenway, 2128 Greenway Ave. Details.



Casino Nights - Play craps, blackjack, roulette, Texas-Hold-em and participate in auctions, and enjoy musical entertainment, fun and prizes the Roaring 20s party. Craft Week Finale - Charlotte Craft Beer Week ends with a collaboration with Elevate Lifestyle to present the South End Spring Fling. Benefits Project Halo. Ticket includes: admission, two craft beers, raffle ticket, entertainment, and live music. There will be food trucks and at least five Charlotte and N.C. craft breweries. Local vendors will be selling their wares. There will be a viewing area for College Basketball games, along with Beer Olympics and more.  1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Bulldog Beer & Wine, 1434 Winnifred Street On Street parking available and go to the Carson Street Station if you are using the Light Rail. Details.



Film Festival -The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival celebrates features stories of journeys, adventures and expeditions told by authors, photographers, adventurers and filmmakers from around the globe.  The takes films to fans to more than 40 countries.  7 p.m., McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square, 345 N College St. $15. Celebrating Women - Craft Chicks highlights talented women of Charlotte from brewing to baking to building and so much more. Proceeds benefit Safe Alliance. $10. Includes a beer from Unknown’s collaboration with Alexa from Legion Brewing. 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., The Unknown Brewing Co., South Mint Street, 1327 S Mint St. Details.
