New Black Movie Event - The Classic Black Cinema Series launches Black Cinema Forward today. It’s a new quarterly film series highlighting current black filmmakers. Craft Week Finale - Charlotte Craft Beer Week ends with a collaboration with Elevate Lifestyle to present the South End Spring Fling. Benefits Project Halo. Ticket includes: admission, two craft beers, raffle ticket, entertainment, and live music. There will be food trucks and at least five Charlotte and N.C. craft breweries. Local vendors will be selling their wares. Cask beer battle, family fun, and live jazz tonight

Stay uptown for the St. Patrick's Day Parade and festivities and then hit the streets for more fun. Craft Beer week continues throughout the city, but there's lots happening in Southend. Family fun at Phillips Place and jazz tonight. I won't see you in the streets today. I'm hanging in Richmond. I'll report back on how they do it in VA. Let's get this party started.

Strong Brews -  The 6th Annual Battle of the Casks at Duckworth’s on Park Road give beer lovers a chance to taste eight rare beers made for today’s event. Recap: Moonshine dinner shined at John's Place (Photos)

Ever wonder what's in a moonshine dinner? Well wonder no more. John's Place Restaurant in Weddington and Copper Barrel Distillery teamed up for a delicious pairing of shine and fancy cuisine last week. Johnson and Wales University Chef Karl Stybe and Chef Craig Gillenwalters created the menu. Many of the dishes were made some of the ingredients in the shine tail (drink) recipes.

Shout outs to mixologist Rich Orrey of Mario's and George Smith owner of North Wilkesboro-based Copper Barrel for putting this together. I can't wait to see what these two come up with next. I'm not a fan of the legalized moonshine, but Copper Barrel's shine tastes like the real thing. The master distiller is Buck Nance, who lives east of Wilkesboro. He's been making moonshine for more than 60 years and you can taste the difference.

Shrimp over risotto with red bell pepper reduction

Shinetail: Summertime Sunshine Copper Barrel White Lightening with fresh juiced honey dew and lemons

Review: CeeLo Still Crazy At Amos' Southend (Video)

  I've been a CeeLo Green ever since his Goodie Mob days. He's one of those rare creative talents that transcends genres often blurring, R&B, hip-hop and unflinchingly gospel. His show at Amos' Southend was cathartic for him and the audience as he delivered his hits along with a sermon. Below is his performance of "Crazy."
