Cask beer battle, family fun, and live jazz tonight

Stay uptown for the St. Patrick's Day Parade and festivities and then hit the streets for more fun. Craft Beer week continues throughout the city, but there's lots happening in Southend. Family fun at Phillips Place and jazz tonight. I won't see you in the streets today. I'm hanging in Richmond. I'll report back on how they do it in VA. Let's get this party started.

Strong Brews -  The 6th Annual Battle of the Casks at Duckworth’s on Park Road give beer lovers a chance to taste eight rare beers made for today’s event. Ticket gets you a Duckworth’s tasting glass and 6 oz pours of each. of the eight rare beers made especially for this event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Duckworth's Grill & Taphouse, 4435 Park Rd. Family Fun - Easter Hoppenings at Phillips Place is a free, family-friendly event featuring balloon artists, face painting, caricatures and of course the Easter Bunny from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Beer Crawl - Head to Southend for the Into the Darkness South End Crawl with The Unknown Brewing Co. At six different bars, including several Southend institutions, you’ll sample Unknown's  dark beers. Participating bars: The Beer Growler, Tavern on the Tracks, the Gin Mill, the Brass Tap, Craft and Unknown. 2 p.m. The Beer Growler. Details.


More Jazz - Are you excited to see Don Cheadle play Miles Davis? If not, seeing Mark Rapp play Miles Davis at The Jazz Room will get you in the mood. 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. at the Stage Door Theater, Corner of 5th and College Streets, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center . $15 general admission. Drink For A Cause - The Pints for Prostates Charity Cornhole Tournament raises money to fight prostate caner. 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Unknown Brewing. 1327 South Mint St. $60 per team. Includes: Two T-shirts, four beers and a chance to win at trip to Oktoberfest in Germany. Unknown is also donating $.50 of every beer sold to P4P. Details.





Drink For  A Cause II - If you love orange juice mixed with sparkling wine then head to The 7th Annual Mimosa Party which benefits Time Out Youth. 8 a.m - 12 p.m., JB's On The Greenway, 2128 Greenway Ave. Details.



Casino Nights - Play craps, blackjack, roulette, Texas-Hold-em and participate in auctions, and enjoy musical entertainment, fun and prizes the Roaring 20s party.
