Roadtrip!: Mumford & Sons, Gary Clark, Jr. and blues festival

Looking for a reason to roadtrip? (Yes, I made that a verb) Here are a few events worth a day trip.


Tonight
Mumford & Sons, Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, Raleigh 
I am so in Raleigh today for this show. I’m a little bummed about the no banjos thing, but I'm still excited to see them. 7 p.m. Details.




Friday 

Pop Ferguson Blues Heritage Festival, Various locations downtown Lenoir and the Exela Pharma at HWY 321. Tonight’s performances: Beverly “Guitar” Watkins, Big T Williams, Howl N Bill Perry, Nitro and Slim. Festival is tonight and Saturday. Full lineup.





Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Asheville 
The Orange Peel brings two Bonnoroo acts to town. Tonight: Bleachers, Sunday: Gary Clark Jr. (Sold out, but you never know) Details.



Saturday


State of Origin Craft Brew Festival, Fonta Flora Brewery, Morganton.
This is a different beer festival. All local breweries that incorporate the North Carolina flora and fauna in the creation of craft beer. Every brewery must bring craft beer that was created using ingredients grown in North Carolina. Special offer for Charlotte peeps. Honeybees Events is offering a round trip bus package which will leave the Queen City at 11 a.m. Saturday. $40.



Celebrate the State Capitol’s 175th Birthday June 13th at Daytime Festival and Evening BBQ Fundraiser, North Carolina State Capitol. Daytime celebration 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free, family-friendly festivities inside and outside the Capitol. Activities will include performances by musicians, military re-enactors, local historic sites, arts and crafts vendors, trackless train ride for kids, hands-on children’s activities. Noon re-dedication and cornerstone consecration ceremony. It’s also the official opening for the Capitol’s 175th museum exhibition. Celebration continues from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. with the “BBQ and Bluegrass Birthday Bash.” Details.
